A workshop-in-progress which proposes material for consultation, debate and fabrication around issues of water to residents of Belfast. The massive public reaction against the process of privatisation of water represents one of the first civic discussions to be shared by opposed parties and divided communities in Northern Ireland. We associate the presence of water in the current political debate with the emergence of an active materiality, sociality and semiotics that could induce refreshing dynamics within local and trans-local contexts.
The workshop was held in Belfast in 2005 as part of the Urban Clearance project curated by Peter Mutscler. (http://urbanclearance.co.uk/projects1.htm)
